Research
PM is a proud partner and sponsor of the Chair of Crisis Governance at the Faculty of Business & Economics at the University of Antwerp.
The chair aims to create and disseminate knowledge on the broad topic of ‘crisis governance’ through a holistic approach. Both researchers and professionals are supported in understanding how effective crisis management can contribute to research and practice, both at a strategic and operational level, to develop, govern, and adapt to changing circumstances.
Long before the establishment of the Chair in Crisis Governance, PM was engaged in scientific and applied research within its own operations. This has led to insights and publications on topics such as:
Our affinity for the scientific method is clearly evident in our services, such as when we assess crisis organisations. Observing, hypothesizing, testing, evaluating, and adjusting are embedded in our DNA.
PM was also instrumental in founding the CIP Institute, a non-profit organisation that brings together scholars and practitioners from various disciplines to exchange and develop knowledge on Complex and Interactive Processes (CIP) in the field of crises. In 2024, the CIP Institute will organize several activities across multiple European countries.
If you are active in crisis management and enjoy exchanging insights on a global scale with well-informed colleagues, shaping the future of our field, we encourage you to consider becoming a member of the CIP Institute and attending one of our events!
“Never waste a good crisis”
Colleagues Hugo and Julien contributed as experts to the Special Parliamentary Committee on COVID-19. Along with other experts, they assisted the committee members in analyzing, assessing, and learning about our country’s approach during the COVID-19 pandemic. These insights are also valuable for our clients.
Development
PM has carried out various projects and applied research with the support of the Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship Agency (VLAIO: Vlaams Agentschap Innoveren en Ondernemen), such as:
- Stress management as a potential service offering at PM (directly led to the development of Hectic Harmony)
- Resilience as a potential service offering at PM (indirectly led to our own approach to Business Continuity Management)
- Our first game simulations, Calamity Cards and the Zombie Game
- Crisis learning platform PM Academy
